Project 7Unreel Screenings 227–12–2025
In broad strokes, this film program traces key modes and genres of experimental film made mostly by women — from the abstract and non-narrative, to dream-like sequences, multi-screen experiments, visual and sound poems, and films about filmmaking and the filmmaker, to works addressing the body and performance. They range from formal experimentation to works shaped by their time, touching on the post-WWII economic boom, censorship, hegemonic patriarchy, and other social issues. The idea behind this selection is to look back at what has already been done, drawing inspiration to move toward more experimentation and perhaps more feminist experimental cinema.
